You have probably seen our Kombucha bottles on the shelf, with their colorful labels and words like "sparkling tea," "fermented," or "low in sugar" that catch the eye. But what exactly is this mystical drink that everyone is talking about (or sipping)? Spoiler alert: it’s not a magic elixir created by Tibetan monks… or maybe it is, actually.

You have probably already seen our Kombucha bottles on the shelf, with their colorful labels and words like " sparkling tea ", " fermented " or " low in sugar " that catch the eye. But what exactly is this mystical drink that everyone is talking about (or sipping)? Spoiler alert: it’s not a magical elixir created by Tibetan monks… or maybe it is, actually.
What exactly is Kombucha?
Kombucha is a sparkling drink obtained through the fermentation of sweetened tea. Yeah, said like that, it sounds a bit like a "witch's potion", but stick with me. Basically, it’s tea (green or black, depending on the vibe) to which sugar is added, and above all… bacteria and yeasts. But don’t panic, these are good bacteria, the kind that pamper your gut, not the ones that leave you bedridden with gastro. We let all this ferment (hello bubbles!) and get a slightly acidic, sparkling drink that is often flavored with fruits or herbs for a nice little taste.
Why is everyone talking about it?
Kombucha is a bit like the Beyoncé of fermented drinks: it made its comeback in the 2000s and since then, it’s everywhere. But why is this fermented tea so popular? In fact, Kombucha is a bit like the all-in-one drink for health enthusiasts:
1. Good for the belly: Our kombucha contains billions of active ferments. Basically, they help your gut flora to be at its best and contribute to good digestion. No more post-meal bloating (or almost).
2. Detox power: The tea in kombucha contains antioxidants that help your body get rid of toxins. Okay, it doesn’t replace a month without fast food, but it’s already something, right?
3. Energy boost: If you’ve swapped coffee for something less hardcore, know that Ginger Kombucha can be your best ally! It stimulates energy and the mind while bringing a spicy and refreshing touch!
4. A cool alternative to sodas: It’s sweet but without the excess sugar (2.5g for 100mL), and plus it’s organic (at UchaBio, it’s 100% organic ingredients). We are talking about a true "clean" option for those who want to avoid overly chemical drinks.
What does it taste like?
The taste of Kombucha can be surprising at first. Imagine a mix between sweet cider, iced tea, and a hint of apple cider vinegar. Yes, it sounds strange said like that, but I promise, you get used to it quickly. And with the different flavors offered – ginger, raspberry, passion fruit, or citrus – there’s definitely a Kombucha that will tickle your taste buds.
How to drink it?
There are no rules! Kombucha can be enjoyed at any time of the day: for breakfast to replace your orange juice (it wakes you up, right?), as a refreshing afternoon snack, or even as a non-alcoholic cocktail (or with, we don’t judge).
